Here are the most recent health care related regulatory developments as published in the New Jersey Register on July 15, 2013:

  • On July 15, 2013 at 45 N.J.R. 1724, the Department of Health and Senior Services published notice of its readoption of the regulations governing the ambulatory care facility assessment.

  • On July 15, 2013 at 45 N.J.R. 1725, the Department of Human Services published notice of its adoption of new rules governing licensure of residential substance use disorders treatment facilities.  The new rules apply to substance (alcohol and drug) abuse treatment facilities that provide residential substance use disorder treatment to adults and adolescents including, but not limited to, halfway houses, extended care facilities, long-term residential facilities, short-term residential treatment facilities and non-hospital-based detoxification or any similar organizations.  The new regulations also apply to hospitals that offer hospital-based medical detoxification services in a designated detoxification unit or facility or provide any of the modalities of residential treatment referenced in the regulations.

  • On July 15, 2013 at 45 N.J.R. 1862, the State Board of Medical Examiners published its notice of its extension of the time period for Board deliberation regarding a petition for rulemaking filed by the New Jersey Hospital Association.  The petition seeks to allow licensed physicians to be employees of its wholly owned subsidiaries of licensed hospitals under certain circumstances.
