Senate To Consider Human Trafficking, Iran-Related Bills; House To Take Up Cybersecurity Bills

Senate Legislative Activity

On Monday, April 20, the Senate will convene at 2:00pm. Following any Leaders remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of S.178, Justice for Victims of Human Trafficking. At 5:00pm, the Senate will enter into an Executive Session to consider Calendar #24, George C. Hanks, Jr., of Texas, to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas. After 30 minutes of debate that has been equally divided, the Senate will hold a roll call vote on the confirmation of the nomination at approximately 5:30pm. Additionally, at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, with concurrence of the Democratic Leader, the Senate will proceed to vote on the motion to proceed to Calendar #54, S.615, the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act.

House Legislative Activity

On Monday, April 20, the House will meet at 2:00pm in pro forma session, with no votes expected. On Tuesday, April 21, the House will meet at 12:00pm for morning hour and at 2:00pm for legislative business, with votes postponed until 6:30pm. The following legislation will be considered under suspension of the rules:

  1. H.R. 471 – Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act of 2015, as amended;

  2. S. 535 – Energy Efficiency Improvement Act of 2015;

  3. H. Con. Res. 21 – Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for the Greater Washington Soap Box Derby; and

  4. H. Con. Res. 25 – Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for the National Peace Officers Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition

The House will also consider H.R. 1195 – Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Advisory Boards Act (Structured Rule). The Rule provides for one hour of general debate and makes in order Amendments #1 and #2 by Representative Ann Kuster (D-NH), with 10 minutes of debate on each amendment.

On Wednesday, April 22, the House will meet at 10:00am for morning hour and at 12:00pm for legislative business. The House will consider H.R. 1560 – Protecting Cyber Networks Act (Subject to a Rule).

On Thursday, April 23, the House will meet at 9:00am for legislative business, with last votes expected by 3:00pm. The House will consider H.R. 1731 – National Cybersecurity Protection Advancement Act of 2015, Rules Committee Print (Subject to a Rule).

On Friday, April 24, no votes are expected in the House.
