Dr. Sterling is an associate in the Biotechnology/Chemical Group. Her practice is focused in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries where she is involved in all areas of patent procurement, exploitation and enforcement. Her practice encompasses domestic and foreign patent prosecution from drafting applications to advocating applications through issuance. She has also represented clients in patent reexamination proceedings. She has extensive experience drafting freedom-to-operate, non-infringement and invalidity opinions and has assisted clients in devising design-around strategies for issued patents. She has also been involved in multiple pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigations, including those brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act, and in representing clients in interferences before the United States Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.
