Joan Archer is a litigation attorney handling intellectual property and complex litigation matters. She has first- or second-chaired more than ten jury trials, bench trials and preliminary injunction hearings. Her intellectual property litigation experience includes trademark, patent and copyright litigation.
For various organizations, Joan counsels regarding trademark and copyright issues. She litigates trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings and had handled many disputes involving the Internet, including those concerning domain names, black-market software, and other infringement issues.
Joan manages trademark and trade dress policing programs, especially involving Internet infringement and has experience in product design and fashion law. She also prosecutes trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
In the area of complex business litigation, Joan guides clients in cases regarding unfair competition, breach of contract, covenant not-to-compete, product liability and chemical exposure, securities arbitrations, municipalities and the environment.
Joan is well-versed in the use of presentation technologies and graphics at trial. In her capacity as president of Archer Jury Focus, LLC, she conducted focus groups, performed videotaped witness preparation, completed post-verdict jury interviews and was involved in several mock trials, including Markman and appellate hearings.
