John J. Jacobsen, Jr. has been practicing benefits and fiduciary conduct law since he joined the firm in 1975. His areas of concentration include design, implementation and administration of all types of employee benefits plans and counseling for plan fiduciaries relating to plan administration and to litigation issues both in the claims procedure and in court.
Mr. Jacobsen is an active member of the Employee Benefits Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and the Employee Benefits Committee of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association. He has lectured at programs on employee benefits issues and written articles in the area, particularly on the subject of fiduciary conduct. He is the co-author of two treatises in the area of employee benefits. The first treatise deals with developments in ERISA litigation and is entitled ERISA Claims and Litigation. The second treatise discusses the obligations of plan sponsors and is entitled Fiduciary Responsibilities of Plan Sponsors. Both books are published by Federal Publications.
