Mark J. Adey is a partner in the firm's South Bend, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he is a member of both the Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring and Corporate Departments. He concentrates his practice in commercial transactions, bankruptcy, and construction law. He represents both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, out-of-court workouts, and state court litigation. Mr. Adey also handles matters concerning the UCC in general and Revised Article 9 in particular. He represents financial institutions with loan documentation, enforcement, and collection activities. He has represented various entities in preparing, enforcing, and prosecuting commercial mortgage and mechanic’s lien foreclosure actions.
Mr. Adey received his certification in business bankruptcy law from the American Bankruptcy Board of Certification. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Insolvency Section of the Indiana Bar Association and serves as chairman of the Insolvency Section of the St. Joseph County Bar Association. Mr. Adey has prepared and presented numerous seminars focusing on bankruptcy and contract and commercial law sponsored by the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and the St. Joseph County Bar Association.
Mr. Adey received his J.D. from the Notre Dame Law School in 1988 and his B.A. from Indiana University in 1985. He is admitted to practice in Indiana and before the U. S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
