Mona focuses her practice on oil and product pipelines, natural gas, and electric utility regulation. This encompasses all aspects of project development and acquisitions, project siting and permitting, environmental concerns, contract negotiations and transactional issues, tariffs, ratemaking and regulatory rate litigation. Mona also advises clients on general corporate matters and legislative issues, including corporate governance, infrastructure security, and risk management. In addition, Mona assists residential and commercial appliance manufacturers in navigating federal and state energy efficiency regulations and the ENERGY STAR program. Specifically, she helps clients request waivers from, and changes to, energy efficiency standards to fit unique circumstances and accommodate advanced technologies; resolve energy efficiency enforcement actions; and develop legislative advocacy strategies and policy recommendations. Another aspect of Mona’s practice deals with the improved relations between the United States and Cuba, which have created potentially lucrative opportunities for U.S. businesses in Cuba and with Cuban nationals. Mona is well versed on the U.S. rules relating to Cuba, and advises clients who are interested in doing business with Cuba. Her practice also includes advising clients on U.S. customs and trade issues.
