Professional Biography

Tad Ferris is a partner and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Ferris’ practice focuses on international and Chinese legal issues. He manages legal issues involving institutional and company trade, sustainability, environment, health care, safety, privacy, energy and government issues in China, Japan, and other jurisdictions. In the health care sector in China, for instance, Mr. Ferris has advised on projects involving labor force communicable disease testing regulatory compliance, medical record controls, institutional licensing requirements, and telemedicine project compliance and strategic development. Mr. Ferris has also implemented training for client managers, facility personnel and staff on China emerging investment risk, manufacturing and product issues, regulatory compliance and supply-chain risk management with a focus on environment, health, safety and sustainability. For instance, Mr. Ferris has advised and trained managers on China Restricted Substance (i.e., “RoHS”) compliance. His work also involves negotiations with Chinese, U.S., European and other parties to develop consensus to achieve client market access, advocacy, sustainability and compliance goals and advance home-government or industry-sector understanding and support of these goals. Mr. Ferris also represents Chinese and other non-U.S. companies and individual investors with respect to their overseas investment projects, benefitting such clients with his knowledge of the U.S. and foreign regulatory systems. He is co-chair of the Firm’s Greater China Regulatory Practice and an active participant in the firm’s Legal Innovation Hub® for NextGen Manufacturers focusing on global sustainable manufacturing issues. He is also a member of the Life Sciences and Health Care Industry Teams.
