Whitney D. Brown* is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office. She focuses her practice on copyright, patent and trademark litigation as well as trademark prosecution.
Whitney received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where she served as a teaching assistant for the first year writing course and as an editor of the Public Interest Law Journal. While in law school, she served as a legal intern in the Office of the General Counsel at WGBH Boston, the largest producer of web and television content for PBS. At WGBH, Whitney researched the scope of the public broadcasting exemption of the Copyright Act of 1976 and the fair use defense. She also served as law clerk for the Library of Congress Office of the General Counsel, where she worked on civil actions brought against the library in U.S. District Court.
Whitney is admitted to practice in Massachusetts. *Not admitted to practice in the District of Columbia. Supervised by principals of the Firm who are admitted to the District of Columbia bar.
