William F. McDevitt

Professional Biography

William McDevitt defends attorneys in professional liability claims in Pennsylvania’s state and federal courts. Cases involve statutory issues, professional negligence, breach of contract, wrongful use of civil proceedings, abuse of process and regulatory suits, including claims brought under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. Bill also has experience with asbestos liability defense; medical malpractice defense; construction litigation; malpractice claims brought against architects, insurance agencies and other licensed occupations; and residential liability. Bill is a regular presenter of avoidance of professional liability lectures prepared by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Professional Liability Committee.

Bill prides himself on delivering high-quality legal services to the most demanding clients – other lawyers. He is enthusiastic about tapping into Wilson Elser’s network of offices and its national Professional Liability & Services practice. Bill will continue his efforts to increase the legal knowledge of the public and law students by participating as a “presiding judge” in Philadelphia's high school Mock Trial competitions and client counseling competitions, both through his alma mater, the Temple University School of Law.
