William V. Essig is a partner in the Products Liability Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Electronic Discovery and Data Management task force. His practice focuses on drug and medical device products liability litigation including mass torts, toxic tort litigation, e-discovery and data management, health care fraud and other white collar criminal defense, and commercial litigation.
Bill’s drug and medical device litigation experience includes representing major pharmaceutical and medical device companies in strict liability, negligence and wrongful death cases involving prescription and over-the-counter medications and medical devices in federal and state courts. Bill has served on national coordinating counsel teams in various roles, including trial, brief writing, witness preparation and coordinating electronic document review and production.
Bill has also represented major pharmaceutical companies in consumer fraud class action cases involving allegations related to advertising claims and product efficacy. He has represented product manufacturers in benzene and other toxic tort litigation. His health care and white collar crime background includes representing various current and former pharmaceutical marketing professionals in criminal trials and grand jury investigations, as well as representing corporate financial officers in SEC investigations and civil and administrative enforcement proceedings.
