The First Rule of How to Survive a HIPAA Audit: Be Prepared

Webinar, Hosted By Mintz

Wednesday, February 4, 2015 - 12:00 PM

The New Year is bringing along with it the resumption of the HHS Office for Civil Rights random audit program to assess compliance with the HIPAA privacy, security, and breach notification rules. Unlike Phase I of the OCR audit program, Phase II audits will be conducted by desk review of documentation, rather than on-site visits. Don’t let the format of the Phase II audit fool you — findings can absolutely lead to enforcement, and failure to comply can lead to civil monetary penalties. Are you ready? (We’re talking to you, business associates; it’s not just the covered entities at risk.)

Mintz Levin’s Dianne Bourque will walk you through the process for the Phase II audits at this webinar. She will discuss lessons learned from Phase I and how to incorporate them into your Phase II preparations. Most importantly, she will discuss how to identify and eliminate compliance gaps, so that you’re prepared in the event that you are one of the chosen.
