The Secret Nuances of English Law in Oil and Gas Contracts

Seminar, Hosted By Hunton Andrews Kurth

Wednesday, January 22, 2014 - 4:30 PM - Wednesday, January 22, 2014 - 6:00 PM

US corporations are increasingly using English law in their international oil and gas contracts, projects and transactions. English law is, however, often used with an incomplete appreciation of the real consequences of doing so. Unlike many civil law jurisdictions, English law upholds the fundamental principle of freedom to contract, reducing the extent to which the law will intervene to reinterpret a contractual arrangement.

Andrews Kurth invites you for a discussion regarding the benefits and pitfalls of applying English law to international oil and gas contracts by reference to a number of key oil and gas contract issues.

The presentation will be delivered by attorneys from our London office. Our experienced London team has the industry knowledge and depth to advise our clients on all aspects of international oil and gas and LNG transactions. They have authored numerous publications on oil and gas transactions including, Petroleum Contracts: English Law and Practice, recently published by the Oxford University Press.
