Alana Thorbourne Carlyle

Alana Thorbourne Carlyle works with employers to ensure that their policies, procedures, and actions comply with California’s evolving employment laws, which can vary across the state and from city to city. Her multi-faceted experience, including as an attorney in the employment litigation group of a large media company working with outside counsel, gives her a valuable client-side perspective. This experience allows her to converse more effectively and efficiently with clients and work in a team-oriented environment to problem-solve. She understands first-hand the stressors and risks employers face, and tailors her advice accordingly to ensure compliance with employment laws.

In both employer counseling and litigation matters, Alana is responsive, practical, and efficient. Her client relationships are grounded in mutual trust. Along with other Allen Matkins employment lawyers, she becomes a part of the client’s team, offering a high level of legal analysis and support.

Alana assists in issue spotting and problem solving in claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, failure to accommodate, and failure to engage in the interactive process, among others. She has experience in all stages of civil litigation, including depositions, drafting, preparing for trial, and arguing a wide array of motions. Alana has represented clients in mediations and administrative hearings pending before California State agencies.
