Amal Rafiq is an Associate in Vedder Price’s Washington, DC office and a member of the firm’s Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits group.
Ms. Rafiq assists with retirement and health and welfare plan qualification and compliance. She has experience preparing and updating plan documents, preparing regulatory filings, reviewing service agreements, and assisting with day-to-day administrative issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rafiq represented multi-employer funds on the management side. She represented benefit fund clients in breach of fiduciary litigation and collection litigation. She also has experience representing employers in litigation arising under traditional labor and employment laws.
Ms. Rafiq’s variety of pro bono experience includes corporate governance and compliance and hearings before a family court tribunal for second parent adoptions.
Ms. Rafiq received her law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law and her undergraduate degree from George Mason University. While in law school she was a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Marlene Lachman, Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.
Ms. Rafiq is proficient in Urdu and Hindi.
