Brent Clinkscale has nearly 30 years of experience as an advocate in both trials and arbitrations and has tried numerous cases in both federal and state courts. Brent’s concentration is in business litigation, including both domestic and international arbitrations. He has experience in the defense of complex business matters, including class actions. Brent is head of litigation for Womble Carlyle’s Greenville office.
Recently, Brent successfully defended Austrian clients in a major piece of litigation in U. S. District Court in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Eastern District of North Carolina. Brent has also successfully represented these same Austrian clients in a multi-million dollar arbitration. In addition, Brent was part of an international arbitration team which defended a major insurer in a month-long London Arbitration and in preparation for that trial, he monitored and investigated the largest man-made catastrophe in South Carolina history. For several years he represented a world-wide communications company in a matter which included licensing agreements in several countries in Europe, with competing arbitration clauses and the threat of substantial billion-dollar litigation in the U.S. He also represented a major international marketing and sales agency in the breach of a sales contract with a significant hotel development company, which was also subject to international arbitration. Additionally, Brent has defended a number of companies in arbitration pursuant to the AAA Arbitration rules and state rules.
