Cynthia Harkness is Of Counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm's Finance Practice.
Cynthia focuses her practice on financial transactions, including secured and unsecured loan transactions, structured transactions, purchases, sales and restructuring of indebtedness and most types of contractual relationships. In addition to traditional lending work, Cynthia has worked extensively with a private nontraditional lender financing the renovation and construction of charter schools across the United States. She represents borrowers and both institutional and private lenders.
Prior to joining the firm, Cynthia built and headed a legal department to support the banking, investment banking, research, and trading operations of a large global merchant bank in Southeast Asia. She also built and was the general counsel and corporate secretary of a publicly traded U.S. company and, most recently, headed the Business Transaction Practice Group of an Austin-based firm, where she assisted clients in secured and unsecured financing transactions, employment arrangements, strategic alliances and joint ventures, mergers and asset acquisition and disposition transactions.
