Donovan Hurd represents clients before the Minnesota Legislature, state agencies and local units of government. A former legislative assistant and administrator in the Minnesota State Senate, Donovan helps clients navigate challenges and identify opportunities emerging from government processes and regulations.

Government Experience

Prior to joining Faegre Drinker Consulting, Donovan held a number of positions within the Minnesota State Senate, including a three-year stint as a leadership assistant and administrator in the Senate Tax Committee. During that time, he assessed the potential tax implications of all proposed Senate bills and passed these insights on to legislators as they sought to maintain a structurally balanced budget while also providing tax relief. He also participated in final bill negotiations, communicated with the majority leader about potential conflicts, and managed staff to ensure committee and constituent issues were addressed.

In addition to his Tax Committee experience, Donovan held positions with the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the Judiciary Budget Committee.
