Eric Magleby

Eric Magleby focuses on patent prosecution and client counseling in the automotive, robotics, and consumer products industries. 

Eric’s prosecution experience covers numerous products in a variety of fields, including the automotive, consumer products, manufacturing, medical device, robotics, and sports and recreation industries. He advises clients through various stages of patent application prosecution, including drafting, responding to office actions, and examiner interviews. He also advises clients in infringement and invalidity claims.

Prior to joining Finnegan, Eric worked as a patent drafter at a company, where he analyzed innovative products, formed patent portfolio strategies, and drafted patent applications in the medical device, plumbing, and automotive industries. He has a diverse technical background, which includes experience developing and prototyping an autonomous robot, designing circuit boards, creating an auxiliary power unit for an unmanned aerial vehicle, and analyzing technical documents of numerous commercial aircraft components. Eric also worked in Japan at a large public company, testing and prototyping motors with a team of product development engineers.

Eric devotes time to pro bono matters, including veterans’ appeals, asylum applications, and juvenile resentencing petitions.
