Erik J. Rickard

Professional Biography

Erik counsels developers, investors, funds and financial institutions on the debt and equity financing of real estate. He represents clients in equity syndication through limited partnerships and limited liability companies of low-income housing, historic and new markets tax credits. Erik has also assisted clients in obtaining or providing senior and subordinate financing for affordable housing and other community development projects.

A veteran negotiator with valued communication skills, Erik is appreciated for his seemingly innate ability to keep his eye on the ball when it comes to achieving each client’s objectives. By focusing on the key elements of a transaction without getting lost in the minutia, Erik has earned a reputation for being reasonable and balanced while preserving the essence of what his client requires to succeed.

With more than two decades of practice, Erik thrives under the diversity and creativity that real estate and tax law requires. A proven team player and devout collaborator, Erik has negotiated and closed over $1 billion of transactions over the course of his career, ranging from YMCAs, aquariums and theater complexes to production facilities and neighborhood infrastructure projects.

Erik is a frequent speaker at various new market tax credit conferences across the United States.
