Erik Mosvick

Erik Mosvick* combines substantive experience in-house, on secondment and in law firm settings to provide tailored guidance for employers across a vibrant spectrum of industries — including hospitality, construction, health care, media, retail, technology, education and finance. A versatile labor and employment attorney, he counsels on employee relations and sensitive workplace matters, creates real-world business solutions to the ever-changing realm of employment laws, advises on traditional labor law issues, and defends against labor and employment law claims.

Think you have the most peculiar, outlandish and wearisome workplace situation? Then Erik wants to hear it (he’s incessantly curious!). Reach out with your concerns and watch him parachute in to collaborate. Expect options, risk assessments and straightforward commercial results — without the legalese. His aspiration: Let’s solve pressing workplace issues and then share pictures of our four-legged family members (he’s an equal opportunity pet adorer) or discuss an Office episode.

Employee Relations Counseling & Compliance

Erik assists employers of all sizes, including public and private companies, emerging businesses and nonprofit organizations. His advice is not limited to what the law permits or requires. Erik works closely with clients to drive value and consider the many legal, PR, employee relations and other practical issues companies encounter in managing employment matters. He has advised on employment issues involving foreign operations in Canada, Europe and Asia. His purview includes but is not limited to:

  • Hiring practices
  • Discipline
  • Internal investigations
  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Employee leaves of absence and accommodations
  • Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) regulations
  • Meal and rest periods
  • Reorganizations/reductions in force (RIFs)
  • Separations
  • Employment issues stemming from mergers and acquisitions

Erik also monitors state and federal employment legislation and government agency enforcement priorities. He counsels employers on the latest developments and delivers enjoyable and accessible legal trainings to HR and business leaders.

Labor Management Relations

Erik helps businesses navigate all things labor relations, including grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and responses to union organizing campaigns and petitions for representation. Erik supports clients and trains supervisors on effective employee management in unionized and non-unionized environments. He also provides strategic advice and counseling on the labor law issues that can arise in mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, and in consolidations, relocations and closings involving union and non-union facilities.

Employment Litigation and Mediation

With successful experience mediating and litigating employment issues, Erik works with clients to explain how employment decisions will be presented and defended if challenged by employees. He has successfully represented employers in state and federal courts and before federal, state and municipal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.
