Professional Biography

Jaclyn joined Reed Smith in 2012 and provides firmwide support to the Financial Services Regulatory Group within the Business & Finance Department.  She advises and represents financial services and FinTech companies with respect to federal and state regulations, regulatory compliance, licensing and transactional matters.  Her current work involves securing and maintaining licenses on behalf of clients in all U.S. states and territories and across multiple financial industry sectors, including money services, consumer finance and retail.  She advises clients with digital content sales and other new and emerging business models including platform service providers on money transmission and other various financial regulations.  Jaclyn’s regulatory compliance practice includes researching and interpreting applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory opinions and guidelines governing the financial industry. She also assists clients with investigations pertaining to insider trading, fraud, and suspicious activities.

Jaclyn also provides support to the Litigation Department and Real Estate Groups.  This includes assisting real estate matters through contract analysis and review, performing due diligence, participating in closings, assessing lease and mortgage documents, and drafting various types of transactional documents, property descriptions and lease abstracts.  Jaclyn’s litigation work for Reed Smith includes legal research and drafting documents relating to litigated matters such as mortgage foreclosure. Jaclyn also assists with various surveys, for several groups at the firm for both domestic and international issues. Jaclyn was recently seconded with Synchrony Bank where she worked closely with the marketing team assisting with due diligence activities related to the sale of credit card account as part of their multi-billion dollar corporate restructuring.

Jaclyn has also performed significant pro bono work for a number of organizations, including Neighborhood Legal Services (NLSA), the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA), and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. Jaclyn actively participates in the ACBA’s Will for Heroes program, drafting wills for police officers, firemen and those in the military. Jaclyn continues to assist with the NLSA by participating in its indigent programs that provide assistance to clients involving protection from abuse cases, as well as housing rights. Jaclyn is currently involved with the firm’s Name Change Project, which matches attorneys with members of the local transgender community seeking assistance in obtaining name changes in the local courts, so their names can match their identities.
