Jani K. Mikel is an Associate in the Chicago office of Vedder Price and a member of the firm’s Litigation group.
Ms. Mikel focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation. She represents a wide array of corporate and individual clients in a range of matters, including toxic torts, products liability, restrictive covenant violations and other commercial matters in both U.S. state and federal courts.
While in law school, Ms. Mikel was Administrative Editor of the Elder Law Journal and a law clerk with the Public Defender’s Office in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was member of the College of Law’s Trial Team for two years, and participated in the 2018 UCLA Cyber Crimes Moot Court Competition. During her last year in law school, as a member of the Federal Civil Rights Clinic, she was provisionally admitted to the Central District of Illinois to represent currently imprisoned clients in their 1983 claims. Ms. Mikel received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Advocacy, which is one of the most prestigious awards conferred upon students at the College of Law, and was awarded the Paul Lisnek Excellence in Trial Advocacy Award. Ms. Mikel was also a judicial extern for Judge Joan Lefkow in the Northern District of Illinois. Ms. Mikel earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Spelman College in 2014.
