Professional Biography

Jennifer Juergens addresses allegations related to broker-dealers, securities issuance, trading, market manipulation, and failing firm analyses in litigation and regulatory investigations.

Dr. Juergens worked in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA) at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where she served as the policy advisor to DERA’s associate director of policy and to the deputy chief economist. In that role, she conducted economic analysis to support rulemaking involving broker-dealers, investment managers, market microstructure, credit ratings agencies, asset management, and corporate issuers. Dr. Juergens also coordinated DERA’s outward-facing initiatives, including the SEC-NYU Dialogue on Securities Market Regulation.

Prior to joining the SEC, Dr. Juergens served as a faculty member in the finance departments at Drexel University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Arizona State University. Her research has been published in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial StudiesManagement Science, and the Quarterly Journal of Finance.
