Lisa M. Bowman

Professional Biography

Lisa Bowman is an experienced attorney who provides strategic, business-minded advice to clients facing complex legal issues.  Ms. Bowman has litigated high-stakes, class-action lawsuits involving independent contractor classification, wage and hour disputes, and discrimination. She has represented and advised a wide variety of clients, including some of the nation’s largest financial institutions, in matters involving contract claims, financial regulations, and unfair competition. Her substantial litigation experience includes class certification briefing, depositions, negotiations, discovery, mediation, and trial preparation. Ms. Bowman also provides ongoing advice to clients seeking to develop or refine compliance policies and procedures.  She understands that every client requires an individualized approach when confronted with a tangle of ever-evolving laws and regulations.

Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Ms. Bowman practiced commercial litigation at a large international law firm in San Francisco. While in law school, Ms. Bowman earned three awards for the top grades in her class, externed for the Hon. Paul Haerle at the California Court of Appeals, and worked for the Electronic Frontier Foundation on free speech and intellectual property issues.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Bowman spent nearly a decade as an award-winning journalist, covering legal, privacy, and other issues for news outlets including CNET NewsBloomberg News, and the Los Angeles Times.  She holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard College, where she was a member of the women’s swim team, an M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University, and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
