Mark Reichel is an associate in Ice Miller's Intellectual Property Group, where he focuses his practice on patent drafting and prosecution, patent litigation support, and general intellectual property matters. He currently focuses on the preparation and prosecution of medical device patent applications, involvement with the Firm's Life Sciences Initiative, active involvement in a number of local not-for-profit and professional organizations.
Prior to joining Ice Miller, Reichel served as a business development manager at the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation (IURTC), the organization handling the intellectual property generated at Indiana University. Reichel joined the IURTC from Indiana University, where he served as an assistant director with the Corporate Contracts Administration group in the office of Research and Sponsored Programs, where he focused on negotiating research, clinical trial, confidentiality, and material transfer agreements on behalf of Indiana University.
Prior to his legal career, Reichel worked as a scientist with Collaborative Laboratories (part of The Collaborative Group) in Stony Brook, N.Y., and in East Setauket, N.Y. For just over four years, Reichel focused on research and development of cosmetic and research-grade pharmaceutical raw materials, as well as performing general material testing for efficacy and stability.
