Michael A. Dorfman represents technology companies as both plaintiffs and defendants in intellectual property litigation and in licensing and counseling matters relating to patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition and contract disputes. He handles all aspects of litigation—from pre-filing investigation and counseling through trial or settlement—and routinely litigates significant actions in federal courts across the country, including major federal dockets such as the Eastern District of Texas, the Northern District of California, the District of Delaware and the Northern District of Illinois. In addition, he participated in some of the earliest inter partes review proceedings at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Michael also prepares legal opinions regarding patent infringement and validity, and regularly counsels clients with respect to allegations of infringement. He has substantial familiarity with issues that arise in connection with software and other technology-related licenses, and regularly assists clients in resolving related disputes.
