Moazzam Khan

Moazzam heads the Global Litigation Practice at Nishith Desai Associates. He also leads the Human Resources litigation practice at the Firm. After attaining his degree in law from Symbiosis Society’s Law College (Symbiosis International University), Pune, he started his career with Bhasin & Co (New Delhi) in 2007 before moving on to Nishith Desai Associates in February 2012.

Moazzam’s forte has been advising clients on various cross-border litigations as well as domestic litigations, internal and regulatory investigations, international commercial arbitrations, enforcement of resultant judgments and awards - across sectors and industries including Manufacturing, IT, Hospitality, Funds, Private Equity, Aviation etc.

Moazzam holds several positions of responsibilities. He is a member of the Arbitration Committee of Jammu & Kashmir International Arbitration Centre (annexed to Jammu & Kashmir High Court), an Advisory Board member of the Centre for Advanced Research in Dispute Settlement established by National Law University, Vishakhapatnam; Member of the Executive Committee, Centre of excellence on Alternative Dispute Resolution at Manav Rachna University and a Visiting Professor at the University; Advisory committee member of the Nani Palkiwala Arbitration Centre; India committee member of the YSIAC, and Signatory to the Guide on Mutual Recognition and Enforcement of Civil and Commercial Judgments in DIFC courts and the courts in India.

He has authored and co-authored a number of articles and research papers with a focus on arbitration and commercial litigation, advocating a change in India’s perception on the global arbitration stage. India Legal Awards 2016 awarded Moazzam with the Young Achiever award.

RSG India Report 2017 recognizes him as an ‘impressive advocate’, ‘experienced’ and ‘knowledgeable’. He was also recognised by Benchmark litigation – Asia Pacific 2019 and 2020 as Dispute Resolution Star for international commercial arbitration.
