Sagun KC, PhD, focuses his practice on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, particularly in the area of pharmaceuticals, medical diagnostics and biotechnology. He has prepared and prosecuted many US and foreign applications in disparate biomedical technologies such as antibody/protein biologics, crystals, DNA/protein arrays, proteomics, bioinformatics, pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine. He also assists bio-pharmaceutical companies and medical diagnostic companies with strategic portfolio analyses of patents in the relevant sectors. Sagun has experience formulating legal opinions on patent-related risks, including freedom to operate, due diligence, patentability assessment, etc. He has further represented clients before the USPTO and in appellate proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
