Breaking Barriers and Sealing Deals: How Women Will Win in Venture Capital

Conference, Hosted By Foley & Lardner LLP

Thursday, November 17, 2022 - 10:30 AM

Capital imbalance is hindering prospects for investing. The answer is clear, put more money in the hands of women – who have historically overperformed while being underinvested.

Women-founded companies earned only two percent of the total VC funding last year. Women-led start-ups can deliver high revenues, nearly twice the amount of every dollar invested. Women have been driving exceptional businesses in the last decade and can continue to do so with greater investment.

Please join us on Thursday, November 17 from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in Foley & Lardner's Boston office for a lively discussion focused on women in VC, cross-border VC trends, and the prospects ahead for equity at the cap table.

The panel will be moderated by Foley business and venture attorneys Michelle Nunez and Alicia Dorner and will feature Rhiannon Davies and Sarah Young, co-founders and managing partners at Sandpiper Ventures, a women-led fund in Canada, and Leah Ellis, co-founder and CEO of Sublime Systems, a Boston-based company that has developed a breakthrough process to produce low-carbon cement. Leah is also an Activate Boston Entrepreneurial Fellow and was recently named among MIT Technology Review's 35 Innovators under 35.
