Electronic data warehouse and analytics (EDW)  platforms are essential to the storage, processing and transmission of health care treatment and payment information for quality improvement, population health, clinical research and other big data analytics. This program will explore the key legal and practical considerations when selecting, acquiring and implementing EDW platforms, and the health IT systems (such as electronic health record and claim processing systems) that capture the data to be loaded into the data warehouse. The following questions, among others, will be addressed: 

• Health IT Data Sources—What are the key provider and payer systems for capturing health

• EDW Platforms—What are the key considerations when selecting, acquiring and implementing an EDW platform for big data initiatives?

• Privacy and Security—What are the key privacy and security issues when selecting, contracting for and implementing an EDW platform?

• Outsourcing to the Cloud—Is it safe to outsource an EDW and its health information to the cloud?

• Off-Shore Data—What are the key considerations for an EDW utilizing off-shore components and partners?
