The Intersection of OCR Enforcement and Health Care Data Privacy & Security

Webcast, Hosted By Polsinelli PC

Thursday, March 8, 2018 - 6:00 AM - Thursday, March 8, 2018 - 7:30 AM

Recent guidance from the HHS Office for Civil Rights includes information for health care providers on involving family and friends of patients with substance use disorders in their care. These policy-related updates will clarify the scope of the guidance from OCR. Following the policy discussion, our speakers will outline the data security issues highlighted by OCR’s recent enforcement actions, and discuss opportunities to provide support to clients with regard to data privacy and enterprise data security.

Polsinelli welcomes Iliana Peters as a new shareholder in our Washington, D.C. office, and a presenting speaker on this webinar. Prior to joining Polsinelli, Iliana spent more than a decade at the HHS Office for Civil Rights, most recently as the Acting Deputy Director and as the Senior Advisor for HIPAA Compliance and Enforcement. In these roles, she played a key role shaping OCR’s enforcement agenda as well as working with covered entities to address privacy issues. She will discuss these and other topics in this webinar.

Our agenda will cover:

  • Sharing health information with family and friends of patients
  • Recent enforcement actions in data security
  • Helping clients answer tough data privacy questions and establish good data security practices

Presenters Include:

  • Lisa J. Acevedo
  • Iliana L. Peters
