Lenders secure obligations of debtors using more than just traditional tangible assets as collateral since intellectual property rights have become more integral and valuable aspects of debtors’ assets. We will discuss how security interests for patents, trademarks and copyrights are properly perfected and recorded, how to perform due diligence on such interests, as well as the impact of such security interests on asset purchases, sales and licenses.
