Chicago, and Illinois in general, was highly populated by immigrant workers in the early 1900s. A number of US Presidents have been elected while living in Illinois. Most famously noted is Lincoln (where the Land of Lincoln logo is still seen on state license tags today). However, other Presidents including Ulysses S. Grant and Barack Obama were also residents when nominated into office. Hillary Clinton and Ronald Reagan were also born in Illinois. Today, the state has a Democratic stronghold in elected offices.
