Jessica L. Westerman joined Katz Banks Kumin as an associate in September 2017 and became a partner with the firm in January 2024.

Ms. Westerman has represented employees from many walks of life, from grocery clerks to pharmaceutical executives to correctional officers, who have been subjected to a wide range of illegal and unfair workplace practices, including sex and gender discrimination, disability discrimination, race discrimination, retaliation, and wage theft. She currently focuses her practice on class and collective actions involving wage and hour violations under state and federal labor laws.

Ms. Westerman was recognized as a Rising Star of the Plaintiffs Bar by the National Law Journal in 2021. She is a member of the Amicus Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association, which submits amicus briefs in state and federal courts on important employment law issues.

Ms. Westerman received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she received the Dean’s Certificate for Special and Outstanding Service to the Law Center Community, and her undergraduate degree from Princeton University. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Westerman served as a law clerk to the Honorable Russell F. Canan of the District of Columbia Superior Court.

Ms. Westerman is a member of the New York and District of Columbia bars.
