Kamyar M. Maserrat is an associate and intellectual property lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Electronics Practice. His practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patents involving software and computer-related arts and other electronics. Kamyar's invention experience spans a wide range of technologies, including cloud computing, natural language processing, data analytics, data migration, mapping, advertising, e-commerce, and other software and business method innovations. Through management of this diverse portfolio, Kamyar has gained considerable experience addressing issues involving patent eligibility of software and business methods. Additionally, Kamyar has extensive knowledge of the mechanical and structural arts, including a degree in civil and environmental engineering with a structural engineering focus and valuable experience in that industry.

A former patent attorney with IBM, Kamyar prepared and prosecuted applications for the world's leading patent holder and served as a member of its IBM Watson focus group (a technology platform that uses natural language processing and machine learning to reveal insights from large amounts of unstructured data) and related Cognitive Build program (an internal incubator of projects to use Watson in new and different ways).
