With technological experience in standards-based patent analysis, cloud computing, wireless technologies and protocols, speech processing, and mechanical arts, Thomas M. Isaacson understands the intricacies associated with new technologies and uses that knowledge to provide clients with effective patent management and protection. Tom focuses on patent and trademark prosecution and litigation, and serves a range of clients, including Fortune 100 companies. Representative technologies include OFDM waveform structures and protocols, satellite and related technologies, blockchain-based technologies including new market exchange structures, financial technologies, drone and robotic technologies.

Previously, as in-house counsel, Tom managed the patent portfolio and strategic development for a major Internet and phone provider. His in-house work included client counseling, patent application preparation, patent prosecution, intellectual property strategy and licensing. He also managed and reviewed work from outside counsel on many patent prosecution matters. In addition, Tom provided intellectual property counsel for a voice-enabled services research lab focusing on strategic patent prosecution and licensing of industry standards-based technologies such as MPEG4 (part 2 and part 10), LTE, WiFi, AAC, WiMax, MPEG7, DVBT and MPEG2000. Tom’s practice continues to include assisting clients in obtaining standards based patents for inclusion in patent pools, particularly with respect to 5G technologies.

Tom also focuses in assisting clients to obtain funding for patent litigation in an effort to provide a proper return on valuable intellectual property assets. Tom routinely counsels clients in this regard and assists them when they desire to take this approach to monetization.

Tom is also a prolific inventor being a named inventor on more than 130 patents.
