The Case for Social Media - Managing Your On-Line Presence to Build Your Law Practice
Saturday, October 9, 2010

“I don’t think it’s too late to embrace social networking, it just rather disappoints me that other professions use these technologies, and lawyers for some reason are always rather late to the party. I have little doubt that within five years, social media, social networking systems, will play a central role in the daily lives of lawyers.”  Richard Susskind, September 2010.

Spot on quote, but it's the legal industry after all - proud sponsors of HornBooks and Sheppardizing.  It's not suprising to me that the legal industry is slow to embrace social networking, the good news with social networking is if you wait six months, they'll be something newer, faster and cooler.

For those in the legal profession who are ready to get off the social media sidelines and join the fun, there's an upcoming one-day seminar which features some of the leading thought leaders in legal social media.  The Case for Social Media - Managing Your On-Line Presence to Build Your Law Practice conference will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center in Washington, D.C.
