Nexteer Automotive in Saginaw will use its electronic power steering expertise to follow the sun. The SunSteer is a solar tracking actuator that can position solar arrays to follow the sun’s progression during the day. It utilizes a high-efficiency ball screw-and-ball nut combination requiring no hydraulic fluids. High performance vehicle coatings reduce corrosion and provide for 20+ years of operation. The ability to track the sun enhances the capacity factor for solar panels and makes their energy more valuable than that electricity generated from static solar panels.
