Professional Biography

Chad Thornton is an associate in the Labor & Employment Law Department and a member of the Employment Litigation & Counseling Group.

Chad attended Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he graduated cum laude. He was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship, Justice Fred A. Blanche Jr. Memorial Scholarship, and the Public Interest Law Society’s Summer Fellowship for his internship with the Office of the Public Defender - East Baton Rough Parish. While in law school, Chad was a member of the Journal of Energy Law and Resource, where he served as a Senior Associate, and his student note “Wave Goodbye to the Jones Act: Why a Waiver of the Jones Act Should and Can be Granted for Offshore Wind Farm Installation” was published in the journal’s eleventh edition. During his time at LSU, Chad served as a teaching assistant for both Constitutional Law and Legal Research and Writing, was a member of the Board of Advocates, and competed in both internal and external trial advocacy competitions, winning the Fall 2021 Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition. Upon graduation, Chad was chosen for induction into the Order of Barristers.

During his final semester of law school, Chad was selected by the law center to submit and argue as amicus before the United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
