Professional Biography

Lindsey Paige Markus is a principal with Chuhak & Tecson and leads the firm's 24-attorney Estate Planning & Asset Protection Group.

In her practice she assists business owners and families in planning their estates, protecting assets, transferring wealth and minimizing taxation. She works closely with clients to formulate succession plans, advise on business formation, maximize wealth preservation and minimize gift and estate taxation.

Lindsey received her juris doctorate from Loyola University, Chicago. She has a national practice and is licensed to practice in Illinois, Florida and New York. Lindsey’s early career in business, finance and clinically applied neuroscience and neuroeconomics provides her with strong communication skills and gives her a unique perspective for creative contract designs. She is comfortable with numbers and understands how her clients' needs are most effectively secured in our dynamic economic environment. Lindsey assesses how the law affects her clients, generates creative solutions to their complex situations and carefully communicates these options.

In 1998, Lindsey earned her master of arts degree in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University.

Lindsey graduated with honors from Brandeis University in 1997 with a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in Economics, with minors in Spanish and Managerial Business. As part of her master's degree program, Lindsey studied abroad at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. She speaks Spanish and conversational Italian. Upon receiving her degree, she worked in the areas of finance and business development where she structured joint ventures with domestic and international media conglomerates.

Prior to attending law school, Lindsey studied cognitive restructuring training to maximize intelligence, a part of the evolving science of teachable intelligence, and she participated in NASA's Critical Thinking Project from 2001 to 2004. Lindsey co-authored "Retrain Your Business Brain: Outsmart the Corporate Competition," published by Dearborn Press in 2003. Retrain Your Business Brain has also been published in China, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. She also co-authored "The Road Trip: A Parable About Where to Lead, When to Follow, and How to Get Out of the Way," published in 2008. In addition, she regularly publishes a column in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

Lindsey leverages her knowledge of charitable planning to help a variety of philanthropic endeavors. She is a very active in and a founding member of Chuhak & Tecson's Women Helping Women program, which holds annual events that allow clients and strategic contacts to strengthen professional relationships and develop business prospects while simultaneously supporting charitable organizations dedicated to women's issues.
