Samantha Young

Professional Biography

Samantha Young is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's San Diego (Del Mar) office.

Areas of Practice

Samantha assists and represents clients in patent prosecution, patent litigation, trademark prosecution, trademark litigation, and other intellectual property matters. Samantha has technical experience in multiple areas of physics and engineering, and has personally conducted research in areas of particle acceleration, physical acoustics, and biophysics. Samantha served as a Mulcahy STEM fellow during her last year at Loyola University of Chicago and has presented research at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Acoustical Society of America and the American Association of Physics Teachers. Samantha published the technical paper Characterization of the Iota Proton Source, an article on the optimization of linear particle accelerators.

While attending law school, Samantha worked as a professor’s research assistant on trademark issues and volunteered as a Legal Intern for the University of San Diego Entrepreneurship Clinic, where she assisted start up companies on corporate, patent, and trademark issues. Samantha was also Managing Editor for the San Diego International Law Journal, where she oversaw the publication of volume 22.

Samantha also maintains a robust pro bono practice, where she works on education law, family law, and LGBT+ rights issues. During law school, she volunteered extensively at the domestic violence clinic in Chula Vista and served as the clinic chair for the University of San Diego Transgender Name and Gender Marker Clinic.
