Scott A. Bowman is a partner in the Private Client Services Department.

Scott counsels wealthy individuals and families in their personal tax and estate planning. He advises them on structuring their wealth to minimize income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes, often over multiple generations. His experience includes advice on trustee and family governance structures to preserve business enterprises and manage potentially sensitive family dynamics. Scott oversees these structures throughout the estate and trust administration process. He also advises the firm’s fiduciary litigators on tax, trust and estate matters.

In addition, Scott’s practice focuses on international aspects of estate planning for multi-national families. He advises non-U.S. citizens who are considering immigrating or investing into the United States, including in U.S. real estate, or who may transfer wealth to U.S. beneficiaries by gift or inheritance. Scott advises U.S. clients with investments abroad and with regard to U.S. expatriation. His practice also includes counseling grantors, beneficiaries, and fiduciaries on their U.S. tax compliance obligations, particularly under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).
