Professional Biography

Scott James Preston is a Shareholder in the Indianapolis, Indiana office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He concentrates his practice in employment litigation and counseling employers on the full range of workplace issues.  Mr. Preston is a member of the firm’s Professional and Collegiate Sports Practice Group as well as the Employment Litigation Practice Group.

Mr. Preston’s litigation practice includes the defense of employers in single and multi-plaintiff actions in state and federal courts and in administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the United States Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board and other state agencies.  He is admitted in Indiana and California.

Mr. Preston also provides advice and counsel to employers on issues such as employee terminations, disability management, human resource audits, best practice employment policies and performance management. He also conducts management training for employers on a wide variety of employment law topics.

Mr. Preston has been recognized by his peers as one of the top employment litigators in Indiana, appearing on the Indiana Super Lawyers list in 2012, 2013 and 2014.  He has been invited to speak before numerous business and employer associations including the Society of Human Resource Management, the National Association for Athletics Compliance and the American Institute of Architects.

A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mr. Preston graduated from Creighton University School of Law (J.D. 1997), where he was an editor of The Creighton Law Reviewand a member of Creighton’s Domestic Moot Court Board.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (B.S. 1991).
