Teresa L. Jakubowski is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Washington, D.C. office where she practices labor and employment law and is a member of the firm’s Disability Law Practice. Her practice includes providing legal counsel and representing clients in litigation and administrative proceedings in the areas of employment law, particularly discrimination/equal employment matters; the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA); the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA); wrongful discharge; state employment laws; fair housing; and accessibility for individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, and analogous state and local laws. She advises and counsels employers, insurers, builders, developers and owners/operators of public accommodation, commercial, housing and other public facilities in all facets of disability discrimination and accessibility matters. She advises and assists employers with respect to the employment relationship generally, including personnel decisions, drafting employment and severance agreements, preparing and reviewing personnel policies and procedures, reasonable accommodation decisions and leave issues. She also has authored several amicus briefs to the United States Supreme Court on ERISA issues.
