Leslie C. Hodge

Leslie focuses her practice on energy project finance, general commercial transactions, start-up and corporate matters, contract disputes, and litigation. She has advised clients ranging from emerging companies to multinational corporations, including energy companies, financial institutions, and others.  

Prior to joining Mintz, Leslie was Senior Director of Investments at Sol Systems, LLC, a firm managing solar energy assets for utilities, banks, and Fortune 500 companies. Leslie managed individual deal teams to set monetization strategy and to execute on the sale of distributed generation solar projects at various stages of development, from green field to shovel-ready assets. As the leader of the investment team, she originated investors and worked with financial institutions and long-term asset owners to structure transactions. She also managed internal project development and transaction processes.

Leslie also served for four years as Sol Systems’ Deputy General Counsel. She was the first full-time attorney for the then start-up, and served as chief legal counsel for the Project Acquisitions and Development groups – closing 350 megawatts of project finance transactions. Leslie also led legal negotiations during power purchase agreement and site control negotiations, advised the Structured Finance and Tax Equity groups, and supported management during the formation of strategic alliances and joint ventures.

Earlier Leslie served for several years as Assistant General Counsel at the US Department of Justice. Dedicated to the Renewable Energy Initiative of the Federal Prison Industries, Leslie served as lead counsel for third-party financed energy projects on behalf of multiple federal agencies and components of the Department of Defense. She also worked directly with agency procurement chiefs to streamline procurement procedures and represented the agency in Federal District Court on litigation matters such as Federal Tort Claims Act claims, Restoration Act claims, and Bivens suits.

Following law school, Leslie was an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County, New York and a trial attorney with a law firm in Chicago.
