FCC Equipment Authorization Rules for Medical Devices

Webinar, Hosted By Barnes & Thornburg LLP

Wednesday, October 24, 2018 - 6:00 AM

Please join us on September 26, 2018, for "FCC Equipment Authorization Rules for Medical Devices," the next installment of our monthly series of webinars directed to issues and developments in the law that affect the medical device industry. These free and informative presentations by Covington lawyers will be held once a month at 9 am PT/12 pm ET. Each webinar will be approximately one hour in length. CLE credit will be offered.

Devices that generate radiofrequency (RF) emissions – which is to say all electronic devices – are subject to FCC equipment authorization rules, even when they do not involve an FCC license (devices that involve an FCC license are subject to additional requirements). Among the rules that apply to all devices are certification requirements, which require those who manufacture or market devices to make sure they do not exceed certain RF emission thresholds and comply with other standards. This panel will explain these rules and the way they affect medical devices, including common and costly pitfalls device companies can avoid by adopting certain remedial compliance measures.
