Illinois Implements New Restrictions on Restrictive Covenant Agreements – What Employers Need to Know

Illinois recently amended the Illinois Freedom to Work Act to include significant restrictions on restrictive covenant agreements between employers and employees that will broadly impact the use of restrictive covenants in Illinois. Please join Vedder Price attorneys Jeanah Park and Alex Weinstein for a webinar addressing the scope of the new law and key information employers need to know before the law takes effect on January 1, 2022.

Our program will provide practical guidance for executives, in-house counsel and human resources professionals regarding the following topics:

  • New compensation thresholds for the enforcement of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements

  • New “adequate consideration” requirements for the enforcement of restrictive covenants

  • New advanced notice requirements for employees entering into restrictive covenant agreements

  • Types of restrictive covenants that are exempted from the new laws

  • How companies can ensure compliance with the new laws governing restrictive covenants
