Senate Legislative Activity

The Senate will meet on Monday, June 8, at 3:00pm. Following any Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business for one hour, with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each. Following morning business, the Senate will resume consideration of H.R.1735, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016.  There will be no roll call votes during Monday’s session.

House Legislative Activity

On Monday, June 8, no votes are expected in the House.  On Tuesday, June 9, the House will meet at 12:00pm for morning hour and at 2:00pm for legislative business, with votes postponed until 6:30pm. The following legislation will be considered under suspension of the rules:

1. H.R. 2088 – United States Grain Standards Act Reauthorization Act of 2015, as amended; 

2. H.R. 2051 – Mandatory Price Reporting Act of 2015;

3. H.R. 2394 – National Forest Foundation Reauthorization Act of 2015;

4. H.R. 235 – Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act;

5. H.R. 889 – Foreign Cultural Exchange Jurisdictional Immunity Clarification Act; and

6. H.Res. 295– Supporting local law enforcement agencies in their continued work to serve our communities, and supporting their use of body worn cameras to promote transparency to protect both citizens and officers alike

The House will also consider H.R. 2289 – Commodity End-User Relief Act, Rules Committee Print (Structured Rule).  The Rule provides for one hour of general debate and makes in order the following amendments:

• Mike Conaway (R-TX) Amendment (10 minutes of debate);

• Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) Amendment (10 minutes of debate);

• Mark Takai (D-HI) Amendment (10 minutes of debate);

• Moore (D-WI)/Huizenga (R-MI) /Maloney (D-NY)/Crawford (R-AR) Amendment (10 minutes of debate); and

• Jackie Walorski (R-IN) Amendment (10 minutes of debate)

Additionally, the House full will have complete consideration of H.R. 2577 – Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016 (Modified Open Rule). The Rule provides for no further general debate and makes in order any amendment offered that complies with the House rules. Additionally, the Rule provides for 10 minutes of debate per amendment equally divided between the proponent and an opponent and up to 10 pro forma amendments for the purpose of debate offered by the Chair and Ranking Member or their designee.  The postponed amendment votes include:

On Wednesday and Thursday, June 10 and 11, the House will meet at 10:00am for morning hour and at 12:00pm for legislative business. On Friday, June 12, the House will meet at 9:00am for legislative business, with last votes expected by 3:00pm. The House will consider:

1. H.R. 2393 – Country of Origin Labeling Amendments Act of 2015 (Subject to a Rule); and

2. H.R. 2685 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2016 (Subject to a Rule)

The House may also consider:

1. H.R. 2596 – Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016; and

2. Legislation related to trade
