Brian J. Slagle

Brian J. Slagle is an associate in the Business and Finance Department and a member of the Consumer Financial Services Group. His practice focuses on providing regulatory advice to clients on state and federal consumer finance laws. He regularly assists clients with a range of compliance and transactional issues relating to licensing, the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and UDAAP statutes prohibiting unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts and practices.

Mr. Slagle has also worked for one of the nation's largest private student lenders and regularly handles matters pertaining to student lending and Department of Education regulations. His experience includes representing student loan servicers during state and federal investigations.

In addition to his regulatory practice, Mr. Slagle handles consumer financial services litigation, including merchant cash advance, TCPA, FCRA, and FDCPA matters in federal and state court, and arbitration. His litigation experience also includes administrative matters, including representing clients in relation to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) supervisory requests.
